Conference 2008 News

About Campbelltown City

Campbelltown City is a significant regional centre renowned for offering the best of both worlds. Bounded on one side by the Georges River and the Woronora Plateau, and on the other by rolling hills, the area offers the perfect combination of city and country.
Governor Macquarie recommended settlement of the district, then known as Airds, in 1810.
On 1 December 1820 Campbell Town was made Capital of the District - named in honour of Governor Macquarie's wife Elizabeth, whose maiden name was Campbell.

Campbelltown City is less than an hour by road or rail from Sydney CBD and even less from Sydney Airport. The City is also home to a major regional hospital, university, two TAFE campuses and significant tourism industry.  The City covers an area of 312sqkm.
